BIMI in 2026: who supports it, who does not, and is it worth it?

Brand logos in the inbox sound great. The implementation cost is real.

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) displays your logo next to your email in supported mailbox clients. It requires DMARC at p=quarantine or stricter, a published SVG logo, and a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) — typically $1,500-$2,000 a year.

Support in 2026 is decent: Gmail, Yahoo, Apple Mail (iOS 16+), Fastmail. Outlook and most enterprise clients do not display BIMI logos.

The lift: in our test data, BIMI-enabled senders see a 2.1% bump in open rate on supported clients. On unsupported clients, zero effect.

Worth it if your domain reputation is already strong (BIMI requires p=quarantine, which itself requires authentication hygiene). Probably not worth it as your first deliverability investment.
